How It Works
QuickBase is Web-based software that gets you going in minutes, not months, right through your Web browser. There's no need to purchase and install individual software licenses or hire a programmer to build a custom solution. You don't need IT and you don't need a consultant—you simply customize or create applications yourself to meet your specific needs.
Because QuickBase was designed with the business environment in mind, it grows with your team, allowing you to add users whenever needed. And because it's easily customizable, anyone proficient with a computer can easily learn to tailor a QuickBase application template or create a new application from scratch, saving you time and money.

Software-as-a-Service Delivery Model
With QuickBase there's never any additional hardware to buy or software to download and install. You can access your QuickBase applications anytime, anywhere, through your Internet connection and a browser.
- No software to install
Because QuickBase is a Web-based software solution, you don't have to spend time downloading software. Everything you need to get started is easily accessible through your Web browser.
- Anytime, anywhere access
Users can access the application anytime, anywhere. All they need is a Web browser. You control access to your application and information by assigning a role to each user, determining what the user can see or do within your application.
Easy-to-Follow Guide
Whether you use one of our ready-made application templates to get a head start or start from scratch and create a completely unique solution, QuickBase guides you through the process so you can get your own QuickBase application up and running in minutes and then streamline and refine it as you work—a huge time and cost savings over other solutions.
- Pre-built templates
Choose your solution from our library of Web-based applications including Project Management, Sales Management, Customer Service and many more. The library gives you access to hundreds of applications — premier applications created by QuickBase, as well as applications customized and submitted by users for users.
- Create from scratch
If you don't see exactly what you need, you can create your own unique solution quickly and easily.
User Management Dashboard
Whether you work with a small or large team, QuickBase provides all the tools that you need to add users to your application and control their access.
- Quick share
Sharing your application with anyone is as easy as sending an e-mail. Simply type in the e-mail addresses of individuals you'd like to invite, select a role for the user(s) and QuickBase automatically sends out an e-mail invitation.
- Roles
You control access to your application and information by assigning a role to a user. QuickBase roles determine what the user can see or do within your application.
- Groups
You can save time when managing large groups of users, by creating a QuickBase group. QuickBase groups are a collection of similar users combined together to grant application access or special permission rights to all members at once.
Point-and-Click Builder Mode
With QuickBase you work the way you want, not the way your software dictates. Once you've selected an application you easily tailor it to your unique needs without having to know or learn a programming language.
- Point-and-click customization
You have complete control over the information you want to track. You can easily change "customers" to "clients" or "priority" to "impact" in order to put your information in terms your team can understand. You can also change the way you enter and view data, specifying what information you can see and what you can do with it.
- Custom forms
You can specify the fields to display or change the layout to create custom forms for editing or displaying your information. In addition, QuickBase allows you to create different forms for different roles and embed related information.
- Form rules
You can create and define actions by using simple text-based rules based on user input. For example, if a user changes the status of a task to "Completed," you can have QuickBase automatically enter the current date in the "Date Completed" field.
- Personalized Dashboard
With QuickBase you can customize dashboards for your users, including personalized views of the information important to them, buttons to get them going to the right place fast, and information to guide them on what to do or what's new.
Interactive Reports
Add interactive tables, timelines, charts, calendars and more. You can display your data the way you want and interact with your data right through your reports.
- Grid Edit™
Grid Edit allows spreadsheet-like editing within a QuickBase application, letting you easily edit multiple QuickBase records at once, using familiar spreadsheet commands such as cut, paste and fill down.
- Cross-tabular reports
Quickly aggregate and restructure data for easier analysis by using cross-tabular reports. With crosstab reports you can group data by rows and columns and roll up any number of numeric values.
- Charts
QuickBase provides a variety of models to choose from, including bar, line and pie charts. Dynamic charts allow you to hover your mouse over individual elements to display the exact values or click to drill-down to related information.
- Timelines
Timeline views provide a graphical representation of QuickBase records in relation to time, enabling you to visually communicate a project plan to your team and keep track of major milestones.
- Calendars
You can display your QuickBase in a calendar report, where you can instantly see the timing of all your tasks and how they fit together in the schedule.
Proactive Alerts and Notifications
Set up automatic notices whenever something important changes—so there's no more chasing down information. You can even have your application proactively send out e-mails directly to users, keeping them informed or reminding them of upcoming tasks.
- Record change notifications
QuickBase can automatically send out e-mails to notify one or all of your users when information in a record has changed or when a record has been added or deleted.
- Report subscriptions
You can automatically e-mail a report to users on a periodic (daily, weekly or monthly) basis. For example, you can create a subscription of the monthly sales report to automatically send to senior management or send a list of all open tasks to your project team before the weekly status meeting.
- Reminders
Remind your team of important deadlines with QuickBase reminders. QuickBase can automatically send an e-mail reminder to you or any QuickBase user to warn that an important date is approaching.
